About Us
Your Little One Is in Great Hands
Welcome to Humpty Dumpty's Kindergarden!
Humpty Dumpty’s was established in 2011 owned and managed by Laura Wood.
Humpty Dumpty’s provides a stimulating home from home environment, surrounded by open space and woodland and a spacious natural garden.
An Enriching, Nurturing Environment
As professionals, parents and carers we all want the best for all children in our care. Humpty Dumpty’s kindergarden is committed to providing quality childcare and education for all children from 0-5 years.
We offer a secure, happy and stimulating environment, independence, self-confidence, consideration for others and good manners are encouraged.
Catering For Your Childs Individual Needs
Each child is special and unique and as such we recognise different individual needs. Children learn best when praised, valued and encouraged. At Humpty Dumpty’s Kindergarden the journey of learning is fun. We understand your needs as a parent or carer and always aim to exceed your expectations and offer quality service. You are entrusting us with the care of your child as a number one priority above all other considerations.
Our Approach
The children lead their own learning here at Humpty Dumpty's.
Practitioners follow children’s interests and plan activities and opportunities 'In The Moment' for their ages and stages of development. We recognise the benefits of natural and everyday objects for the children to interact with and this is widely used throughout the nursery through holistic play and treasure baskets. These include wood, metal and a range of fabric, textures and colours for the children to explore.
We feel that independence is very importance for children’s development as it is a crucial life skill to develop at such a young age. The drive for independence starts from babyhood. Young babies rapidly make decisions about what they play with, what they like to eat and who they prefer to be with. Toddlers will thrive in a healthy environment where they have opportunities to do more and more for themselves. With this in mind, we strive for your child/ren to be as independent as they can be whilst they are with us.
Here at Humpty Dumpty’s we operate an open door policy creating free flow access to outside and inside. Free flow play is the term used in the Early Years Foundation Stage to describe a style of play where children have the choice to move indoors and outdoors freely within their learning environment.
Whilst outside there are many opportunities for your children to be physical to help develop both their fine and gross motor skills. Outside is a great place for your child/ren to be active. Active play is critical for children's physical development. It helps children with their coordination, balance, gross-motor skills (large movements like crawling and walking) and fine-motor skills (smaller movements like picking objects up).

Meet The Humpty's Team!
Laura
Nursery Owner & Manager
I’ve been in the Early Years profession for 18 years and back in 2011 I was fortunate enough to launch Humpty Dumptys. As a mum of two boys, I understand the importance of finding the right setting for your little ones.
Creating a home from home environment where children feel safe, secure and happy is of the utmost importance to me. I love simple days with my family, beach trips, forest walks and movie days.
BA Hons. Early Childhood Studies
In the absence of the owner/manager, the role is taken over by Deputy Manager of the Nursery.
I’ve been involved with working alongside Laura since we opened Humpty’s together in 2011 making her dream a reality. My background was Human Resources for 25 years so my role as administrator enables me to undertake lots of ‘admin’ related tasks as and when needed.
My husband will be retiring this year so we will hopefully have more time with our family, holidays and enjoying life but will always be involved with nursery!

Deputy Manager
BA Hons. Early Childhood Studies
I became part of the Humpty Dumpty's team after graduating from my early childhood degree back in 2019. Starting out within the baby room and working my way up to the deputy manager back in 2021.
I love working with young children. Young children teach me as much as I teach them. I love that young children and babies have a unique perspective on the world, full of wonder, joy and curiosity. Working with them helps me discover my own sense of playfulness and creativity, as well as offering me new insights and perspective on life daily. Young children are filled with an unconscious thirst for investigation and education. I admire young children's honesty, creativity and endless energy allowing me to learn new things daily.
"...inside all of us is adventure. Inside all of us is...A wild thing"
I love spending time out in nature, walking, bug hunting, rock pooling, looking for fossils and being present in my family life.

I've always known that working with children is what I wanted to do with my career. I joined the Humpty Dumpty's team in 2021 as a practitioner, since then I have progressed into being a room lead.I love working with children because each individual child grows and develops in their own unique ways, and being a part of their journeys is a reward in itself.
The bond that we develop with the children is built on trust and security and it's such a precious thing to have. In my spare time, I enjoy being creative through scrapbooking, adventurous by paddle boarding and spending quality time with my son and family. My favourite children’s book would have to be "There's a Dragon in your book" by Tom Fletcher. I enjoy reading his books because you are always guaranteed the children can get involved, "Help Dragon blow out the flame and turn the page..."

I love working in early years because I get to be a part of children’s learning journeys and witness their milestones which is incredibly rewarding, as well as seeing children’s boundless curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm makes everyday an adventure. In my free time my hobbies include paddle boarding, going on short bike rides and going to the beach who I enjoy sharing these experiences with my partner, Harry.
My favourite children’s book is "The Snail and the Whale," because I love how the story captures the essence of adventure and friendship. Additionally, I have a special fondness for giraffes and love all things giraffe related!

Abby
I’m Abby one of two Abigails in the building which sometimes causes confusion! I joined Humpty Dumptys in April 2022 with my son Isaac until he began school in 2023. My role as Assistant to the nursery is to ensure the smooth running of the business on a daily basis, from supporting in the rooms, to gardening to covering in the Kitchen when Stewart is away. My secret power is knowing where everything is in the building!
In my spare time my son and I enjoy spending time with friends and family, walks and generally being outdoors. My favourite children’s book is Funny Bones.

Working towards Level 3 Early
Learning and Childcare
I have been at Humpty Dumpty's Kindergarden for two years, initially joining as a Level 2 apprentice. I have since completed this qualification and currently pursuing my Level 3 qualification. When I first started, I worked in the preschool room, but I moved to the baby room a year ago.I am passionate about working in early years and being a significant part of children's growth and development and watching them grow into their own unique individual. I love that every day is different and building strong bonds with both the children and their parents, creating a safe and nurturing environment for all.
I particularly enjoy setting up messy play activities, allowing the children to explore through all five senses. In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog Marley, socializing with friends, and going swimming. My favourite stories are the "That's Not My" series, where the babies and I enjoy exploring the different textures of different kinds and parts of animals.

I have completed my early years childcare course as of May 2024 which means I am now qualified to spend five days a week with your little ones! I have been working towards this goal since starting college in 2022 when Humpty Dumpty’s took me on as a student. I chose to study childcare as it is such a rewarding experience to watch as children grow, develop and discover all the wonderful things about the world. In my spare time I usually find myself at the gym, on a bike ride or baking something yummy. My favourite children’s story is ‘foxes in the snow’ by Jonathan Emmett as this is a story my parents shared with me throughout my childhood.
